Hi. My name is Amanda Saunders. I’m married to General Manager Chris and am a busy mum of 3. I am a support worker for House of Heroes and also co-ordinator of our support network – Heroes @ Home. The networks main aim is to positively support family members and close contacts of House of Heroes residents, to be a caring point of contact for concerned loved ones and to compliment all the great work that happens at our various projects.

One day recently it struck me how our residents (our heroes) have an extremely tough challenge ahead of them,but they do benefit from being surrounded by a community of people experiencing similar difficulties and a committed, caring team of staff both from whom a wealth of comfort, strength and drive can be gleaned.

But whilst this is going on, who’s caring for the heroes left at home? Perhaps you find yourself handling finances alone, juggling debt caused by addiction, a house move, have never lived alone before or cared for children alone or simply don’t have anyone who understands how you feel missing the husband, wife, son, mother that you’ve waited for so long to get to this place of change is hard. On top of all this you may be wondering about your loved one’s health, well-being, progress, your future...

My heart and the vision for Heroes @ Home is to understand, answer the questions where able and prove that you are not alone. I look forward to meeting you.....
